INDEPENDENCE - Willis (Willy) A. Matson passed away Monday, February 6th at his home in Independence, Oregon at the age of 70. He was born in Anthony, Kansas to Ernest and Nellie Jones Matson. He spent most of his adult life living in Independence where he worked for over forty years in the turkey farming industry. Willy found joy in fishing, camping and spending time with his two sons and two grandsons. He was a longtime fixture in town where he enjoyed riding his bike and visiting with friends. Willy is survived by his sons, Willis (daughter in la Tabatha) J. Matson of Independence, Billy (daughter in law Jennifer) L. Matson of Salem. Grandsons, Blade Matson, Ryder Matson and granddaughter Taniaya L. Coil. He is also survived by several siblings and family members.
