Wesley Dale Voss, 90, of Independence passed away Nov. 20 at Four Seasons Residential Care.
He was born in Corvallis to Charles and Christina (Pedersen) Voss and graduated from Corvallis High School.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific and was a member of the original U.S. Army Occupation Force in Japan immediately following the end of the war in 1945.
He married Aileen Bush in 1952 in Lebanon. He was a noted farmer in the Monmouth area and truly loved being outside in nature, tilling the soil and nurturing the crops that he would bring to life each year. Earlier in life, one of Wes's passions was flying planes. He owned his own plane for many years.
He is survived by son Charles and wife Natasha, and granddaughters Nichole and Alisa of St. Petersburg, Russia; sister Betty Jean Wade of Albany; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Four Seasons Residential Care Center, 202 S. Ninth St., in Independence. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
In lieu of flowers and other gifts of remembrance, the family requests that donations be made to Willamette Valley Hospice in Salem or Four Seasons Residential Care Center so that they can continue their remarkable care-giving services to others.
