Obituary, Victor "Vic" Alvin Satterlund August 23, 1925 ~ June 24, 2008 Victor "Vic" Alvin Satterlund of Monmouth, Oregon died June 24th, 2008 at the age of 82. Victor was born to Alvin and Winifred Satterlund on August 23, 21925 in Cumberland McKinley Township, WI. After graduating from Frederic High School in 1943, Vic joined the Army. He was promoted to sergeant and fought with the 29th Separate Infantry Regiment throughout Europe until the end of WWII. After being honorable discharged from the Army in 1945, Vic returned to Cumberland where he courted and married the love of his life for 59 years, Nancy Talbot Satterlund. Nancy and Vic settled on a dairy farm in McKinley, WI. Where they raised two sons, Victor "Skip" and Scott. Vic was proud to serve for many years as the chairman of Maple Plain Township and on various boards and committees. Additionally, he served as the Master of the Masonic Lodge #223, Cumberland, WI. and was a lifetime member of the ELKS. In 1968, Vic and Nancy moved to Monmouth, Oregon. Vic ran a successful real estate business for 29 years. He loved going to their Wallowa Cabin in Eastern Oregon, where he hunted and fished with his sons, grandson and friends for over 40 years. His passions were spending time with his family and listening to his extensive Polk music collection, and attending morning "world problem solving" strategy sessions at Burgerville, where he entertained his young friends with his extensive repertoire of stories and jokes; he even wrote a humor column for a small newspaper. Vic was an expert duck decoy craftsman and was frequently working with wood and running his "beloved" chainsaw. Vic was preceded in death by his son Scott Satterlund, He is survived by his wife Nancy Talbot; his son Victor Skip William and wife Michele of Newman, GA; his three grandchildren Captain Victor Richard Satterlund of Fort Benning, GA; Brandi Satterlund of Beaverton and Jessalyn Satterlund and her mother Cyndi of Sherwood, Oregon. Also survivors include brother Donald Satterlund of Pullman, WA, his sister in law Rosmary Talbot Davis of Cumberland, WI, and many nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by his wife, family and friends. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday June 27, 2008 at the Cornerstone Christian Center 4395 Independence Hwy. Independence, Oregon. Open Casket visitation will begin 1 hour before service time. Private Interment will be held at Fir Crest Cemetery in Monmouth.
