Sue Fumie LeGeros
October 30, 1925 - June 27, 2013
Monmouth - Sue Fumie LeGeros of Monmouth Oregon died June 27, 2013. She was born in Tokyo, Japan, October 30, 1925 to Kazuo and Su-e Jimbo. She was the oldest of four children, three brothers and a sister, and was preceded in death by her parents, two of her brothers and her sister.
Sue's marriage in Japan brought her to the United States after WWII, where she raised four children, Peter, George, Mary and Mark. While raising her family, Sue got her US citizenship and worked her way through college in Brookings, South Dakota. She graduated from South Dakota State University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts as an Art major at age 52. Sue went on to be a cartographer and later, a soil technician for the US Soil Conservation Service in Lincoln, Nebraska. She retired at age 68. Sue moved to Monmouth, Oregon in 2003 to live out the rest of her life with her daughter and in surroundings that so much reminded her of her homeland.
Sue shared with her children and friends an appreciation of the beauty she always saw around her through her paintings and artistic creations. She honored that beauty with her pursuit of perfection in all she did. Sue shared with her children and friends the principals of determination, perseverance, and endurance. She was an amazingly strong woman who met her life challenges with grace, up to her last breath.
She is survived by her four children and their families: Peter and Deliah LeGeros , their son Derek and their daughter, Callie Rae; Geo and Nanc LeGeros, and their son Life (wife Melanie, their daughters Zoe and Ayla) and their daughter Nakula; Mary and Pat O'Connor and their sons, Jeremy and Matthew (wife Erin, and their children, Emily, Ebrianna, Ethan, and Evorie); and Mark LeGeros and his son Ben.
Sue will be remembered by many, for her love to care and to give service to others throughout her life. While she will be missed, she will be remembered when we see and appreciate the beauty around us.
A private service will be held at the coast in her honor.
