On the evening of November 26, 2013 Sarah Lou Muller passed away in Salem.
Sarah was born in Salem, Oregon on December 16, 1938. She was a life-long resident of the Willamette Valley. Her early years were spent in Gervais, and later her family moved to Salem. Sarah graduated from North Salem High School in 1957, and then Merritt Davis School of Business.
Sarah married Leo C. Muller on September 9, 1961 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. They spent their 48 years together in the Independence area where they raised two children; Suzanne and Thomas.
Sarah had the reputation as an accomplished baker. Many looked forward to her cakes and peanut brittle during the holidays. Her recipes were published frequently so they could be enjoyed by all.
When Suzy and Tom were older, Sarah went to work for Citizens Savings. She worked in banking for 18 years. Sarah had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout her life. Hawaii was always a favorite destination.
Sarah was proceeded in death by her husband, Leo; brother, Dean Booster, and her parents.
She is survived by her children, Suzanne (Mike Yates) Roppe and Thomas (Teresa) both of Independence; five grandsons; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ron Wachter of Pullman, WA; six nephews, and two nieces.
A celebration of life will be held at Cornerstone Church of God, 4375 Independence Hwy., Independence, OR 97351 on Monday, December 9, at 2:00PM.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Polk County Fire District #1.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Polk County Fire District #1 for all the years of service.
