Monmouth - Samuel Sinaumea Hunter was born in Leone, American Samoa on February 13, 1932 to Sinaumea and Fetaui Patu Hunter. He returned to his Heavenly Father on September 2, 2012 surrounded by his loved ones at home in Monmouth, Oregon.

He is survived by his beloved wife Linette Alapa Hunter and children: Sweet, Lianne, Liora, Solomona "Taps" (Joanna), Lomi, Kimo (Rebekah) and Kamuela (Lucie). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Omai, Will (Rachel), Waylon (Melissa), Tama, Tui, Kekoa, Moana, Sai, Sina, Kapono, Fetuao, Lagi, Kanani and great grandchildren: Tyson and Paki. His sister Jane Williams (George) is his only surviving sibling. He leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He attended schools in American and Western Samoa. After which he worked for the Crown Estates where he gained skills as an accountant which he carried into many positions. He retired in 1992 as accountant for the American Samoa Government DOE School Lunch Program.

His friends and family will always remember his love of sports. As a young man Sam was a skilled rugby player. He played for teams in Vaiala and Fagatogo. He especially enjoyed billiards, golf and bowling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren will always remember their Papa's stash of candy which he always shared with them.

A Celebration of Life for Sam was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel in Monmouth on September 5, 2012. Family members were able to share "Sam Stories" and music in memory of this wonderful husband, father and friend.

The family wishes to thank the Willamette Hospice team, Dr. Keith White & staff, Dr. Patricia Kao & staff for the great care that was given our Dad.
