Ruth Eleanor JohnsonAugust 4, 1933 - January 6, 2019Ruth Eleanor Johnson, resident of Albany passed away on January 6 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis at the age of 85. She was born August 4, 1933 in Boise, Idaho to John Henry and Anna Elvira Lyon, the youngest of seven children and only daughter. Her brothers were Kenneth, Don, Oran, Burnice, Homer and John.
She attended school in Jefferson, Oregon. On September 3, 1953, she married JD Johnson in Reno, Nevada, and raised seven children, Dan Johnson, Darrell Johnson, Deena Early, Danette Johnson, Dorisa Hann, Dorene Gumns and Jay Johnson.
Ruth loved all of God’s creation, and was often seen enjoying her flower and vegetable garden. She also enjoyed practically every creature, including dogs, birds, cats, raccoons, chickens, turtles and especially hummingbirds. Every morning she had to have her coffee and toast, and was an avid reader, heartily enjoying many books. She loved taking trips to the beach and Spirit Mountain Casino.
A funeral service will be held Monday, January 14, 1 pm at Farnstrom Mortuary, Independence, OR, with a graveside service at Hilltop Cemetery and a reception at Buena Vista Church following.
