Ronald B. McLain
October 14, 1939 - June 16, 2013

Independence - Ron passed peacefully after a long and brave battle from diabetes complications. He is survived by Jean, his wife of 46 years, and daughter, Dana, his two brothers Rich and Greg, and sister Kate, and their families. He also leaves behind Jean's siblings, who considered him to a brother, and their families.

He was born at Fort Ringgold, TX to Barron and Marie McLain. His first years he lived at a stage coach way station that his great grandmother had operated. The family then moved to Pittsburg, CA, then Pacifica, CA. There he developed a love of the ocean. As a high school senior, he enlisted in the National Guard. He loved telling stories of his experiences, including his stint at the So. San Francisco Nike site.

Ron loved to share his life experiences and stories and easily engaged friends, family and strangers to share theirs. His interests were many and varied, from astronomy, physics to bowling (had thought about turning pro), fishing, camping and golfing. In his forties, tried skiing and took up ice skating. When he retired, he looked forward to enjoying many of those activities.

He was a kind, caring, generous, devoted, gentle man. Always there to help, advise and support. He will be missed.

Ronald's life will be celebrated privately. Farnstrom Mortuary is caring for the family. Photos, memories and condolences at FarnstromMortuary.com.
