Robert L. Brownell
January 5, 1925 - April 24, 2012
Robert L. Brownell of Independence, Oregon passed away April 24, 2012 at the age of 87. Born in Sutherland, Nebraska on January 5, 1925. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a electrian mate. After the military he spent 38 years with Pacific Power and Light. Robert was a member of the Elks Lodge and was awarded the Independence-Monmouth First Citizen award in 1975. He was also a nationaly ranked hydro racer.
Survivors include his wife Jeri Brownell of Independence, Oregon, daughters; Cynthia Quakenbush of Corvallis, Oregon and Marsha Schwarz of Salem, Oregon. Two son in laws, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Mary Brownell and his brothers and fellow WWII Veterans Irvin and Kenneth Brownell.
At his request no service will be held, but a gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
