Robert "Bob" Leroy Phillips Jr., a resident of Independence, Oregon, passed away on May 6th, 2015 at the age of 73. He fought a courageous battle against cancer with his family supporting him at his side. Bob was born to Robert Sr. and Rhoda Phillips in Watertown, South Dakota in 1942-- the oldest of 5 children, and graduated from North Salem High School in 1960. Bob then went into the service, serving his country in the Army Reserves, being discharged, he continued on to serve the Central School district for 22 years. Bob Phillips later married the love of his life, Clara Case on August 7th, 1970.
Bob enjoyed his fishing, camping trips, the sports he played and spending time with his grandchildren. Bob had a big heart for the Independence community, helping kids during his service with Central School District, always reaching out to help whoever he could. His biggest joy was making memories with his beloved family.
He loved his family, and is survived by his spouse, Clara Phillips, sister Connie Mae, children; Julie DenBeste, Laura and Chad Freeborn, Casey and Carrie Phillips, and his 5 grandchildren; Eli, Ethan, Robbie, Emma and Lydia.
