Richard M. Woods

Richard M. Woods of Monmouth, Ore. died July 3, 2004 in his home in Monmouth; he was 62 years old. Richard was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio to Richard Otis Woods and Helen Margaret Wise Woods. He graduated from Ray Ariz. High School in 1959, and received a B.S. in Education from University of Arizona in 1963 and a Masters of Science in Education from Oregon State University in 1971. From 1963-68 he lived in Anaheim, Calif. and taught science and photography. He moved to Oregon in 1969 and from then to the present time had worked for Cascade School District in Turner as a teacher of science and Photography, Director of Technology, and District Grant Writer. Survivors include his wife, Helen Elaine Woods of Monmouth; brother, Robert Wise Woods of Corvallis; and Stacy Marie Shell of Monmouth. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margaret Woods. Private interment will be at Fir Crest Cemetery in Monmouth. In Lieu of flowers the family encourages donations to the American Cancer Society, Cascade Scholarship Funds, or Willamette Valley Hospice
