Phoenix, AZ - Richard "Rich" Earl Anderson, 82, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on January 19, 2013. He was born in Dallas, Texas on December 19, 1930, the only child of Roy and Oma Anderson. Rich served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On May 24, 1954, he married Trudie Clever in Lebanon, Oregon. Together they raised seven children. Rich accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age and passed that legacy on to his children. He was an accomplished guitarist. As a young boy, his Aunt Buna gave him his first guitar which he learned to play, mostly on his own. Playing the guitar and singing was always a big part of his life, both at home and church.
Rich and his second wife, Esther, formed the southern gospel group, the Gospel Troubadours. For the next 20 years they traveled, living in Alaska, Montana, Oregon, and California. Esther passed away in 2002.
In 2003, Rich renewed a friendship with Phyllis Menken. Soon love was in the air and they married. Rich and Phyllis lived happily in McMinnville, Oregon, until Phyllis passed way in 2007. The following year, Rich moved to Phoenix, Arizona, to live with his stepdaughter Nora and her family.
He is survived by his sons Richard (Sandi), Edward (Rae Ann), James, Vance (Karla), and Montie (Teresa), and daughters Ruth (Wally) West and Vanessa Lindsay, and, his stepsons Curtis (Lisa) Menken, Wayne (Lisa) Menken, and Dale (Rae Lyn) Menken, and his stepdaughter, Nora (David) Blake. He had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Nora for being at Dad's hospital bedside during the last month of his life. That's a special kind of love.
