Ricardo Trevino
October 11, 1951 - January 30, 2015
SALEM - After a life filled with wonderful memories, and with his family by his side, Ricardo Trevino passed away in Salem, Oregon, at the age of 63.
He was born in Robstown, Texas, to Victoria and Luis Trevino. In 1961, his family migrated to Independence, Oregon. Ricardo worked the fields every day to help support his family. He graduated from Central High School in 1971. It was at Central that he met his best friend and future bride, Gloria.
After graduating, Ricardo served his country as a soldier in the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. When his tour was complete, he returned home to marry his high school sweetheart.
Ricardo and Gloria wed on July 13, 1974, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Independence. It was the first day of a beautiful marriage that would span over 40 years.
In 1975, the couple moved to Salem, Oregon, where they would spend the rest of their years together. That same year, Ricardo began working for the State of Oregon. He and Gloria had their first son, Ricardo "Andy" Andres, in 1977 and welcomed their second son, Michael, in 1989. In 2006, Ricardo retired from the state after 31 years.
During his life, he enjoyed traveling with his family, spending time working on his yard, watching funny movies, barbecuing, and camping. Those who knew him will remember him as a caring father, loving husband, hard worker, great friend, and devoted Dallas Cowboys fan.
Those continuing his memory include wife Gloria; mother Victoria; sons Andy and Michael; daughter-in-law Heather; grandchildren Braelynn and Brenden; brothers Luis, Oscar, Enrique, and Armando; and sister Olga.
A viewing will be held at Farnstrom Mortuary in Independence on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 4-8 p.m., with a recitation of the rosary at 7:30 p.m. A service will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Independence. Memories at FarnstromMortuary.com.
