MONMOUTH ~ Our beloved mother, Nancy Talbot Satterlund, 79, passed away Saturday in Salem, Oregon. She is preceded in death by her son, Scott Charles Satterlund, and beloved husband, Victor Alvin Satterlund. She is survived by her older son, Victor "Skip" William Satterlund and wife Michele of Newnan, Georgia; sister, Mary Talbot of Cumberland, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Major Victor Richard Satterlund and his wife Alex of Fort Benning, Georgia; Brandi Satterlund, Tualatin, Oregon; Jessalyn Satterlund and her mother Cyndi of Tigard, Oregon. She is also survived by her four loving great grandchildren and her beloved dog and constant companion, Cinnamon.
In 1968, Vic and Nancy moved to Oregon from their dairy farm near Cumberland, Wisconsin. Vic developed his real estate business and Nancy continued her lifelong passion, nursing. For many who received her tender loving touch she was "Florence Nightingale" of Monmouth. "Doctor Nancy" always had time to help anyone in need of her legendary healing powers. She relished preparing enormous, mouthwatering meals for her family and loved spending time at the Oregon coast where she doted over the family cabin. She loved holiday celebrations, fishing, the outdoors, tending her flowers, driving around the mountains of eastern Oregon grouse hunting with Vic, watching movies, and stopping at the casino for the occasional pull of the lever. She loved to laugh and lived life to its fullest through her seemingly inexhaustible supply of energy. She remained dedicated to her craft, continuing her nursing work of healing others until her death.
Nancy will be dearly missed by all who knew her and remembered by so many who were healed by her compassionate hand. We love you so much, Mom.
Visitation will be 3pm to 7pm Thursday at Farnstrom Mortuary.
Memorial Service will be 10am Saturday at Cornerstone Christian Church in Independence with committal service following at Fir Crest Cemetery in Monmouth.
