Morris Marion Barker of Independence, Oregon passed away September 20, 2010 at the age of 88.
Morris was born May 25, 1922 in Refugio, Texas to George and Mertice Barker. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 and was honorable discharged in 1945. Morris worked as a log scalar in the timber industry. On March 21, 1944 he married Mona Marie Fager. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, crabbing and gardening. He was a member of the Independence Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife Mona Barker of Independence. Son; Morris W. Barker and wife Donna of Lacey, Washington. Granddaughter Marci Newkirk of Lacey, Washington and Granddaughter Shallon Sanders of Richland, Washington. Also survived by 3 great grandsons. Morris is preceded in death by son; Gary Barker, mother and father, sister and 2 brothers.
Funeral Service will be 1pm Thursday at Farnstrom Mortuary, Independence. Private internment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
