March 29, 1946 - February 19, 2016
Mary passed away on February 19, 2016 in Independence, surrounded by her family, after a long battle with cancer. She was born March 29, 1946 in Sioux Falls, SD.
In the early part of Mary's life, she enjoyed being a Military's wife. Living in Germany twice, Japan, and many of the states, till she settled down in Polk County
Mary worked with the special needs, where she retired from Sunny Oaks. She went back often to visit with the ladies. She loved working and serving them.
She enjoyed ceramics, bowling. She also enjoyed getting out fishing and hunting. She loved going to the coast and stopping off at Mo's for lunch.
She is survived by partner Dennis Stage, Brother Glenn Austad (Karen), her kids Liz Marrs (Wally), Laura Gagznos (Larry) Joe Gagznos (Laurie), Zackery Mersch and Denise Carrasco. She also has 7 grandkids, 1 great grandchild and had two great-grandchildren coming later this year, and many nieces and nephews too.
She was preceded in death by both her parents and son Christopher.
There will be a Celebration of life will be March 12th Noon to 5pm at the Recreational Center at Ash Creek Mobile Park. It will be a potluck, so bring a dish and share your memories for Mary.
