Corvallis - Marilyn was born in Fort Scott, Kansas to Maurice H. and Elsie L. Swank. The family moved to the Yakima Valley when Marilyn was a young child. She worked for the State of Oregon both at Columbia Park Hospital in The Dalles and later at Dammasch State Hospital in Wilsonville. She retired at the age of 55 in order to spend more time with her husband at their home in Independence. After her husband passed away, Marilyn moved to Corvallis to live closer to her family in the area. She enjoyed gardening, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, and trips to the beach. Marilyn loved her family and she loved the Lord.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Peggy Bishop, Karen Reed, Donna Reed, and Sean (Yvette) Edwards; grandchildren Stephannie Christiansen, Sabin Richard, Allan Ertel, Matthew Reed, Sarah Crocker, Zackery, Ashley, and Isaiah Edwards; and ten great grandchildren. Her husband Robert and son Michael Gaines preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held on November 3, 11:30 am at Ash Creek Bible Church in Monmouth, Oregon. Arrangements by Farnstrom's Mortuary. Online condolences at www.FarnstromMortuary.com .
