Maria “Cuca” Del Refugio Ramirez Lopez passed away on July 15 at the age of 70. She was born on August 29, 1951 in San Pedro, Zacatecas, Mexico to Cresenciano Carrillo and Maria Josefa Ramirez.
Maria and her husband, Mario migrated to the United States in the late 1970’s where they raised 3 children and worked most of her life as a labor worker at a tree farm. They lived in Buena Vista and spent a lot of time at the “chalan” where they enjoyed swimming as a family who she loved very much. She loved to cook and tend to her tomatillo garden. Maria was also well known by friends for wearing a flower in her hair that matched her attire. She was a grateful believer in Jesus Christ her lord and savior. She did volunteer work for Monmouth Christian Church. She will be dearly missed.
Maria is preceded in death by her son Gerardo “Yayo” and Amelia Maribel Casarez. She is survived by her husband Mario Lopez Sr. son Mario Lopez of Monmouth; daughter Sonia Lopez-Garcia and husband, Gonzalo Garcia of Monmouth; son Eddie Lopez and wife, Evelyn Garcia of Albany; son Arturo Casarez of Texas and son Julio Cesar Casarez of Mexico. Maria adored her grandchildren, Emiliano “Mi Milo”, Brandon “Mi Brando”, Estella “Mi Estellita”, Layla, Miklo “Mi Caballo”, Kami “Mi Coco”, Leo “Mi Goalesito”, Noah and Adalynn to name a few. She had many more grandchildren in Texas and Mexico who she did not get a chance to meet.
A public viewing will be held between 2:00pm-5:00pm on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Farnstrom Mortuary.
