Maria del Pilar Carrillo was born on October 12, 1945 in Rancho La Hincada in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi. She died June 25, 2012 at OHSU in Portland, Oregon after a sudden illness.
On December 11, 1966 she married Cipriano "Shorty" Carrillo and she moved to Independence, Oregon where she resided the rest of her life. She is survived by her husband Cipriano in Independence, four sons; Roberto and spouse Fran in Monmouth, Oregon, Rene and spouse Erinn in Portland, Oregon, Rolando in Beaverton, Oregon and Ricardo in Salem, Oregon. She will be greatly missed by her seven grandchildren: Roberto Jr, Kayin, Gabriel and Eliana Pilar Carrillo in Monmouth and Evan, Ethan, and Elliot Carrillo in Portland.
She is also survived by her brothers Ines and Bernardino Alonso and one sister, Vidal A. Castaneda, in Houston, Texas. In Mexico she is survived by her brother Gonzalo Alonso and her sister Maclovia Alonso.
Pilar was a devout Catholic and attended St. Patrick Catholic Church in Independence, Oregon. Pilar's primary love besides her husband was her children She loved gardening and flowers. Although Pilar was a quiet unassuming person, she nevertheless made many friends over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marciano and Guadalupe Alonso and one brother, Pedro Alonso. She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Aurelia Alonso, Atanacia Gaytan, and Rafaela Requena.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, June 27 from 12 PM to 3:00 PM at Farnstrom's Mortuary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will start at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic on Thursday, June 28, 2012. Mons. Carl Gimpl will officiate the Mass.
Final committal will be at Hilltop Cemetery in Independence, Oregon.
A reception will follow in Cornish Hall at St. Patrick Church.
