Corvallis - Louise Ellen Alderson, 85 of Independence died December 15 in Corvallis, following a short illness. She was born July 13, 1927 to Alex and Gladys (Musgrave) Kuiken in Albany, Oregon. She was raised in the communities of Scio and Lyons. She graduated from Mill City High School in 1945, and attended Merritt Davis Business College.
She worked at International Harvester in Salem, until marrying William Alderson in 1948. They lived on the family farm in Independence where she resided until her death. Louise worked as an educational secretary for Central School District, and then Oregon College of Education Business Office, (now Western Oregon University) for 22 years until her retirement in 1989.
Louise enjoyed gardening, sewing, and canning the fruits and vegetables from their farm. She was a member of Monmouth Christian Church.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 2007. She is survived by her daughter Diane Ostrom of Monmouth; sons Dennis (Kathryn) and Ron, both of Independence; sister, Irene Roy of Sherwood; and grandchildren, Karyn Ostrom of Chapel Hill NC and Andrew Alderson of Independence.
Service will be Thursday, December 20, 11:00 am at Monmouth Christian Church, 957 Church St. W. Monmouth. Interment will be at Hilltop Cemetery.
