Lila Jane "Gill" Brouse

Lila Jane (Gill) Brouse, 81 of Independence passed away on July 13, 2012.
Lila was born July 9, 1931 in Duluth, Minnesota to Aaron Richard and Lila Viola(Antiel) Gill . She was the 8th of 10 children. Her parents were farmers and Lila attended Lakewood School.
She married one of her childhood friends, Gordon Douglas Brouse, Sr. on September 17, 1949. Lila often told stories about the two of them sharing lunches and ice skating together when they were children. Gordon always lovingly referred to Lila as "Mother Goose." They had five children, Wanda, Gordon Jr., Susie, Brian and Bret Sr. The family moved to Oregon in 1967 and bought a home on Main Street in Independence. Three days before the family left Minnesota to move to Oregon Lila was diagnosed with cancer and successfully beat this disease.
Lila's world revolved around Gordon and raising their children, as well as taking care of her mother who lived with the family from 1967- 1976. They worked together at Salem Insurance until the passing of Gordon, Sr. in 1986. They also owned a small orchard in Buena Visa and spent many hours nurturing cherries and prunes. The entire family loved weekends together at their cabin in Detroit.
Lila is survived by her 5 children, 11 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren: Wanda (spouse John Petty), Gordon, Jr. (spouse Nancy, grandchildren Lindsay, Brett, great grandchildren Connor & Cameron), Susie (Joe Ramos, grandchildren Ara, Heidi, Aaron, Jesse, great grandchild Allison), Brian (spouse Debbie, grandchildren, Kyle, Lauren, Nicholas ), Bret Sr. (grandchildren Whitney, Bret Jr.)
She was preceded in death by great grandson, Bret Brouse III. After 25 years apart Lila joins her beloved husband at Buena Vista Cemetery.
Arrangements have been handled by Farnstrom's Mortuary. At Mrs. Brouse request, there will be a private family service on August 4th at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Shriners Hospital.
