SALEM - I. Lewis Winokur died on June 15, 2014 at the age of 80 after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. Lewis was born and raised in Smithtown, New York. He graduated from New York University and served three years in the Army. During that time he married Geraldine (Henning) Winokur. They moved to California, and then to Oregon.
Lewis enjoyed target shooting as well as building and collecting toy soldiers. He retired from the State of California after 30 years of work. Prior to his illness, Lewis was active at the Independence Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Stephanie and his wife Geraldine. Surviving family include his children, Dr. Kenneth (Heather) Winokur; Lorena (Bill) Stewart; and Steven (Kedema) Winokur; and 7 grandchildren; his siblings, Drs. Mark (Katherine) Winokur; Scott (Adriana) Winokur; Raquel Winokur and Linda (Robert) Boelter.
