Leo Casper Muller January 15, 1936 ~ September 18, 2009 INDEPENDENCE ~ Leo Casper Muller, son of Theodore Casper Muller and Virginia Evelyn Muller was born in Salem, Oregon January 15, 1936. He was raised near Independence where his parents owned and operated Muller Lumber. He continued to operate this business with his own son. Leo graduated from Central High School in 1954. He served in the Oregon National Guard. Leo was a member of the Independence Elks Lodge. Leo met Sarah Lou Booster in 1960 while he was working construction near her home. They were married September 9, 1961. Leo's greatest pleasure was working in the family lumber yard and driving his truck. In his off hours he enjoyed boating, fishing, and ice cream at Aspinwall's Fruit stand. Leo is survived by his wife, Sarah; daughter, Suzanne Roppe, her partner, Mike Yates of Salem; son, Thomas and wife Tracy Muller of Independence; grandsons, Ryan and Riley Roppe, Colin Yates, Bailey and Lucas Muller; sister Barbara Ron Wachter of Pullman, Wash.; 2 nieces, 1 nephew, and 11 great-nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Cornerstone Christian Center, 4395 Independence Hwy., Independence.
