Lawrence T. Bush
April 18, 1956 - July 3, 2014
SALEM - Lawrence T. Bush passed from this world July 3, 2014. He was born in Harvey, Illinois on April 18, 1956. He is survived by his eight siblings, Lynn Clack of La Pine, Oregon; Dayle Langley of Salem, Oregon; Laurie Valenciaon of Salem, Oregon; Donna Collier of Scappoose, Oregon; Leslie Klug of Idhana, Oregon; Doug Bush of Independence, Oregon; Kim Mayer of Whitefish, Montana; Jay Bush of Keizer, Oregon; Jon Bush of Salem, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Curtis Bush of Hungry Horse, Montana and David ToeLaer of Independence, Oregon. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; a plethora of friends and acquaintances.
Larry served in the US Navy, Whidby Island, Washington as a corpsman, served as a communications operator for the City of Tuscon, Arizona Emergency Services 911 System. Taking up the cause for homeless veterans and the down and out, he gave of his resources to assist any way he could.
Putting aside a life of drugs and alcohol, Larry recommitted his life to Jesus Christ, ministering to any who needed his love and advice from the Scriptures. His "church", a table at the local McDonald's. Many could testify to the help Larry gave them in getting clean and sober. Always the soft spoken gentle soul that he was, Larry gave little gifts to everyone as "mementos" to remind them of the time he spent with them. He would always say he got them at the "gittin' place".
Raised primarily in Sheridan, Oregon, Larry graduated from Sheridan High. The recent reunion was a joy for him, meeting up with old friends like Harry Cooley, and winning a first place plaque for the 55 Studebaker pickup that he and his sister drove in the grand parade.
I think it would have made Larry very happy to know his beloved dogs Sassy, Nikki, and Georgette have found loving homes. They were well known in the neighborhood, and his friends were all concerned for their well-being.
Larry will be missed by so many, but never forgotten. Rest in Peace "Preacher Larry".
