Kenneth William Bennett

January 8, 1943 — March 8, 2025

Kenneth William Bennett, beloved husband, father, brother, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully, at home surrounded by family, on March 8th, 2025, at the age of 82 in Salem, Oregon. Born on January 8, 1943, in Los Angeles, California, Ken moved to Days Creek, Oregon as a child. He grew up as a farm boy, embracing the values of hard work and dedication.

He was the son of Vaughan and Lois Bennett and the loving brother of two sisters, Lavaughn Beard and Pat Stenberg. After graduating high school, Ken honorably served his country, first in the U.S. Navy for six years in San Diego where he met his love, Judi. They were married for 60+ years. Later they moved to Huntington Beach, California and Bellevue Washington before settling in Salem, Oregon. In Oregon, Ken continued his service for many years in the National Guard.

Ken spent most of his career in the printing industry, working in camera, printing, and binding. He dedicated nearly 20 years to Salem Printing and Blueprint before continuing his passion for another two decades at Your Town Press in Salem. He was a member of the Independence Elks BPOE, where he formed many friendships.

A devoted husband to Judi and a loving father to his two sons, Corey and Gary, Ken's greatest joy was his family. His sons fondly remember growing up with a father deeply involved in the Yamhill County Four Wheelers, an off-roading and racing club that brought adventure and excitement into their lives. In 1987 the family was joined by Karen who came in through a foster program and became a loved daughter. Ken is survived by his children, their spouses, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Later in life, Ken and Judi fulfilled their dream of buying a home by the river, where they could enjoy peaceful days surrounded by nature for 36 years. Ken loved nature photography and travel. Ken and Judi spent nearly 10 years as ambassadors for Fantasy RV Tours, guiding RV tours all over the United States and Canada. With a big heart and unwavering love for his family, Ken left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Ken had great concerns and care for veterans' issues. He talked a lot about Wounded Warrier Project and Gary Sinise Foundation. While not religious at all, Ken had great respect and appreciation for Catholic Community Services and the services they provide. Those wishing to make charitable contributions in Ken's name are encouraged to consider these organizations.

He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved him. A celebration of life is being tentatively scheduled for the 4th of July on the river.
