June Laverne Tallman

June Laverne Tallman of Rickreall passed away in Salem on September 19, 2014, after a brief illness. She had been living at the Willson House in Salem for the past several months.
June was born on September 16, 1917, in Rickreall, Oregon, to Verne A. Fox and Georgia (Miller) Fox. June was very proud of her pioneer heritage. June's great grandfather was George Johnson Baskett. The Fox family lived in a house built by Baskett in 1880. She graduated from Rickreall High School in 1935.
June married Leon Tallman in 1941. They lived in Salem until 1964 when they returned to the family farm in Rickreall after June's father passed away. June worked as a bookkeeper for several companies in Salem, retiring from Commercial Business Supply in 1982. June loved animals and always had a dog and several cats. She enjoyed her garden and cooked wonderful dishes for pot lucks. June liked to travel, making several trips throughout the West and Canada. June was a member of the Rickreall Grange.
June was proceeded in death by her parents and husband, and by her brother, Clay Fox. She is survived by her niece Dana (Jim) Akers of Portland, Oregon; nephew, Clay (Hope) Fox of West Richland, Washington; niece Keli (Rob) Faw of Seattle, Washington; and eight great nieces and nephews.
