Obituary, Julius "Mike" Szabo April 7, 1939 ~ February 3, 2006 Julius Mike Szabo of Independence, Oregon Formerly of Carlton, Oregon passed away February 3, 2006 at his home in Independence he was 66 years old. Mike was born April 7, 1939 in Vajdacska, Hungary. Educated in Hungary and qualified to Teach. He lived in Las Vegas for 5 years moving to Carlton, Oregon for 17 years then to Independence in 2005. Mike was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carlton, Oregon. Was part of the Canadian Air Force. Mike enjoyed reading, fishing, music, family. He belonged to a pool league and bowling league. On June 26, 1982 he married Lora Utley in McMinnville, Oregon. He is survived by his wife Lora Szabo of Independence, Oregon, Daughter and Son in Law Kathleen and Jim Calobeer and grandchildren Danielle and Chelsea MacBride all of McMinnville, Oregon. Daughter and Son in Law Erin and Patrick Payne and their son Conner Payne all of McMinnville, Oregon. Mother in Law Enid Brown of McMinnville, Oregon. He left behind 7 brothers and sisters in Hungary when he escaped during the revolution. Memorial Service will be held 3:00 Friday February 10, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Carlton, Oregon.
