Julio Garcia

July 22, 1949 — June 20, 2023

If there is one thing, I learned it’s that nobody is here forever. You must live in the moment, each and every day... The here and now.
If that is true, then Julio had a great life. He was the most caring, funny, and loving person I have ever known. And judging by the nodding heads I see in front of me, many of you agree.
Julio was born in Abilene Texas. Julio was the 9th child out of 9 kids. Julio is proceeded in death by his belove wife Linda and beloved daughter Sophie. His parents George and Candelaria Garcia, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Survivors include his Son Antione Garcia (Victoria) and Andres Garcia. Grandchildren Anthony Medina, (Yadira), Mariah Pena (Zach), Kayla Lara, McKenzie Free (Sergio), Sophia Garcia, Arianna Garcia and 10 great-grandchildren. Julio is also survived by his sisters Eulalia Pena, Mary Reyna, and brother Geroge Garcia. And many Nieces and Nephews.

Julio graduated from Abilene High school and received his master's degree in engineering. Out of high school Julio enlisted in the Marines. Julio fought in the Vietnam war and received 2 purple hearts. After the war he enlisted into the Army national guard. Where he served 33 yrs. And traveled to many countries.
Julio married the love of his wife on December 24th, 1969. And had 3 wonderful kids. Julio was always supportive of Linda opening her beauty shop. What Linda wanted Linda got!!
He was a marathon runner and won many medals.

Julio was very active. He loved to travel, dance and most of all play GOLF!!
Julio traveled the world, Spain, Canada, Mexico Hawaii, Grease, Las Vegas, and lots more places. Tio was very into Tejano music, he would attend Tejano conventions. Tio was always the first one on the floor. Tio was always planning his next adventure.
Julio was remarkably funny, loved playing jokes on people and scaring people. Especially when someone dropped something he would say very loud AHHHHH, and the kids would cry!!!! But most of all Julio was kind and loving.

Above all Julio believed in working hard to retire hard. Julio loved and lived for his family. Family is the most important thing in life. One quote he would always say” Life is too short, live life to the fullest and he did. Those are words of wisdom that I will always cherish.
I have many stories and many memories of Tio Julio, I will miss walking into your house and go to your room and say “ya llego tu enfadosa” and you would reply with a big smile Linda Chiquita.
In closing I would like to share this poem with you;
Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on the snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand on my grave and weep
I am not there I do not sleep.
Tio Julio thank you for being a part of my life, our lives. We are all going to miss you. It is never goodbye it is see ya later up in the sky.
