Jose was April 7, 1927 in Laredo, Texas to Juan and Maria Vela Gil. Moved to Independence, Oregon in 1962 from Corpus Christi, Texas. Married Lilia Gil on 1949, she preceded him in death on January 24, 2007. Jose was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He enjoyed going to garage sales and flee markets. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday October 1st at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Independence. Vault Internment with Military Honors following at Hilltop Cemetery.
