Obituary, John M. Werline June 23, 1919 ~ April 24, 2008 John M. Werline of Independence, Oregon passed away April 24, 2008 at the age of 88. Born in Independence Oregon to George and Eunice Werline. Was raised on a hop farm in BuenaVista. Served in the Army during WWII. Was Police Commissioner of Independence 1959-1965. Was the barber at the Palace Barber shop in Independence for over 30 years and then managed a mobile home park in Klamath Falls. He moved back to Independence in 2000 where he resided until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Werline, and sisters Emma Ennle and Millie Hill, and wives Marjorie Locke and Dorothy Whitney. He is survived by daughters Lynda Johnson of Independence, Janis Cox of Grand Ronde and son Johnny Werline of Yachats. John enjoyed his membership in the Elks Club of Independence, trap shooting, hunting, golfing, bowling, shooting pool and card playing.
