John "Whad" Haney

May 2, 1950 — May 12, 2015

May 2nd, 1950 - May 12th, 2015
John Whad Haney, age 65, has walked through the gates of Heaven, joining his parents Alvin and Melba Haney, along with his sister Carol and her husband Samuel Fluestch, this May 12, 2015. Whad, what his loved ones and friends called him, was born in Ontario, Oregon on the date of May 2, 1950. Throughout this life, he was raised in Nyssa, Oregon. Right after high school, John then decided to join the United States Air Force and served from 1968 to 1972. John married Louinda Timmons and had 4 children. He is the father of Allen (Lori) Haney, Kimberly (Charles) Andre, Wendy (Jerry) Haney and Matthew Haney. He later divorced and married Darline Hunter; which included his stepson Louie (Sheri) Hunter and Dawn Hunter. John came from a big family of 7 brothers and sisters. Brothers Claire (Marlene) Haney, Steve (Kate) Haney, Mark (Cindy) Haney, and Russell (Robin) Haney; sisters Gail (Jubal) Miller, Carol (Samuel) Fleutsch, and Vicki (Ron) Hess. He is a grandpa to 8 grandkids, along with 2 great grandchildren. He was further survived by his nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends during his life. He was a great man to everyone he crossed paths with. Driving for Horizon Transport, delivering motorhomes across the United States and Canada for 12 years, John covered over 871,000 miles without an accident, and that was one of his greatest accomplishments. John lived for family reunions that took place every summer. His favorite spot was always at the beautiful Wallowa Lake, Oregon. Whad also loved to fish, and being outside on the river waiting for the next Big One! His big smile was one his greatest and everyone's most memorable trait. John was the teddy bear of the family, and always gave the best, never ending hugs. Not a single minute would go by that he wouldn't crack a joke just to hear everyone's laughter. He was the master of the classic "pull my finger" joke" that no one ever got tired of. John Whad Haney is an amazing father, husband, brother and friend to all. Whad will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A private service at Willamette National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Forever and a day, John Whad Haney. We love you.
It's not goodbye, Dad; it's "see ya later."
