Joan Kathlyn Locke of Monmouth, Oregon passed away January 8, 2011 at her home. Joan was born in North Bend, Oregon to Melvin & Kathlyn Matson in 1938. Moved to Suver where she graduated from Central High School in 1957. Married John M. Stone and had two sons Wayne M. Stone & Michael A. Stone, they later divorced. While working at Independence laundry she met and married George W. Locke in 1967 had two daughters Ruth A. (Locke) Slaska and Sarah L. Locke.
Joan did crafts and gave little crafts to children at the schools. She was a mom to half the county during her children's school days. She enjoyed gardening, fishponds and painting.
She is survived by her husband George W. Locke, sons Wayne M. (Brenda) Stone, Michael A. Stone, both daughters Ruth A. Slaska, Sarah L. Locke, grandsons Wayne M. Stone Jr., Kenny D. Stone and Nicholas Slaska, 3 great grandchildren; Ryder A. Stone, Keely C. Stone and Kyann N. Stone.
Visitation will be 1pm to 5pm Friday January 14th at Farnstrom Mortuary.
Funeral Service will be 12pm Saturday January 15th at Farnstrom Mortuary with vault interment following at Hilltop Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Willamette Valley Hospice or Breast Cancer Society in care of Farnstrom Mortuary 410 Monmouth St. Independence, OR. 97351
