Jill Ann (Wells) Tharp
March 9, 1959 - May 15, 2013
Monmouth - Jill Ann Tharp, 54, of Monmouth, died May 15th. She was born March 9th, 1959 to Phillip Eugene Wells and Janet Louise Disque. She was raised in Brookville, PA and was the youngest sister to Janice Ferraro (of Greer, SC) and Steven Eugene Wells, (wife-Margaret, of Amarillo, TX). When she was just a few months old her father tragically passed away in a work related railroad accident. She grew up attending schools in the Brookville, PA area.
In high school she enjoyed gymnastics and riding horses for pleasure as well as competition. In her senior year she moved to San Jose, CA. where she completed her high school education. Within a few months of arriving in San Jose she met her future husband Bradley Val Tharp. They were married December 29, 1977. It was around this time that she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she became a life-long member and served in a number of positions. She especially enjoyed working with the young woman within the church. In 1981 the young Tharp family moved to Philomath OR. Shortly after moving to Oregon, Jill felt impressed that she should earn a college degree and enrolled in the nursing program at Linn-Benton Community College where she graduated first in her class with a 4.0 GPA in June 1989. Jill spent the majority of her working career dedicated to serving others as a nurse for Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis, OR.
In the summer of 2005 Brad and Jill decided to sell their family home in Philomath, where they had spent 24 years raising their children (Timothy, Amber [Bacio], Jason, Daniel and Aaron) as well as enjoying moments spent with her daughter, Missy Hays from California. A beautiful home was designed and built to create memories with their many grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Jill was a kind, loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Sister who was happy to respond to anyone at a moment's notice and whenever they needed her. She willingly lent an ear to a troubled heart but rarely needed a shoulder to lean on herself.
Jill is preceded in death by her Mother, Father and two grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, and step-siblings.
