Albany - J.D. Johnson, resident of Albany, passed away in his home on November 8, 2017 at the age of 90. He was born April 27, 1927 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to John and Jeanette Johnson into a family of seven siblings. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.
J.D. married Ruth E. Lyon, and together they raised seven children, Danny, Darrell, Deena, Danette, Dorisa, Dorene and Jay.
An avid family man, J.D. loved family outings, gatherings and barbeques. His favorite pastimes included fishing on the Santiam, gardening, birdwatching, and walking on his path. He always started his morning by reading his favorite paper.
J.D. is survived by his wife and children, 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren (and one on the way).
A viewing will be held Monday, November 13, 4-8 pm, with a funeral service Tuesday, November 14 at 1 pm, both at Farnstrom Mortuary, 410 Monmouth St, Independence. A reception will follow at Buena Vista Church.
