Obituary, James "Jim" John Kozisek January 12, 1923 ~ January 8, 2007 James Kozisek of Independence, Oregon died January 8, 2007 at his home in Independence. He was 83 years old. James was born in Pine City, Minnesota to James and Mary Kozisek. His family moved to Oregon in 1946. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946. He worked for the Dallas mill and for the Central School District as custodian for 24 years, retiring in 1988. A devoted husband, brother, father, a superman of a grandpa and great grandpa, he will greatly be missed by family and friends. He thoroughly enjoyed Thursday outings with his brother George and Ted to J's restaurant where they reminisced about the past. When Jim was too ill to leave his house, the "boys" faithfully brought breakfast his favorite meal to him. He looked forward to weekly trips to Spirit Mountain with daughter in law Sue and her parents Lyle and Calene. He enjoyed going to Circle K to buy lottery tickets and visiting with the "gals". He could frequently be found in his yard doing "projects" and enjoyed maintaining two local cemeteries with Mike and Sue. Jim's wife, Phyllis passed in 1999. Survivors include Daughter Pam Art Cummins, Son Mike Sue Kozisek, grandchildren Mike Jennifer Kozisek Jr., Krista Chad Tracy, Aaron Cummins, Kelly Ivan Holmes and Andy Melissa Cummins. Great grandchildren are Tanna, Wyatt and Ryan Tracy. Mailee and Jack Kozisek, Drew Cummins and Kassie McKay. His family deeply thanks his caregivers Caroline Trine and Jennifer Kozisek and all the friends and neighbors who watched out for him just as he would have done for them. Graveside service will be held 11:00 am Friday January 12, 2007 at Restlawn Memory Gardens in Salem.
