Ivan Nisly
April 7, 1926 - April 30, 2012
Ivan Nisly of Independence, Oregon passed away April 30, 2012 at the age of 86. Born in Hutchinson, Kansas. Moved to Amity, Oregon area as a young child lived in Medford, NB. First year of married life he moved back to Amity in 1953 and to Independence in 1964. We worked as a blacksmith, farmer, welder and horseman. Ivan was a charter member of Prince of Peace Mennonite Church, Adair Village, and member of Draft Horse Breeders Association of Oregon. Currently attended First Baptist Church in Independence and earned numerous awards with draft horses.
Survivors include his wife Esther Marie (Burkey) Nisly of Independence, Oregon, daughters Wanita (Chris) Slabach of Middlesburg, Indiana and Tena (Glynn) Davis of Elk Grove, California, sons Harley Jay (Susie) Nisly of Independence, Oregon and Terry Nisly of Falls City, Oregon. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Bobby Nisley and sisters Savilla Gough and Maria Miller.
Visitation will be 5-7pm Friday, May 4th at Farnstrom Mortuary
Funeral service will be 10:30am, Saturday, May 5th at Independence First Baptist Church with committal service following at English Cemetery in Monmouth.
