Harry Edward Case

May 22, 1929 — April 16, 2010

Rex was born to Alfred and Lydia Case May 22, 1929 in Norton, Kansas and
passed away April 16, 2010 in Dallas, Oregon. He was the oldest of 12
children. He enlisted in the Army June 11, 1946 and was honorably
discharged, soon after he married Viva Jane Smith on October 10, 1949.
In 1951 they moved to Oregon where they raised their family of seven
girls. Rex was a Construction Superintendent for many years with Salem
Sand and Gravel, Chemeketa Industries, and Mocon. Some of his projects
included construction of parts of Interstate 5 and Interstate 205, Big
Cliff Dam and the Marion County Incinerator in Brooks, Oregon. His
hobbies included square dancing with the Silver Spurs, fishing, road
trips, going to the casino, visiting with family, watching sports and
old western films. Rex was a member of the Independence Elks for over
50 years. He is survived by seven brothers Tom, Everett, Pete, Larry,
Terry, Richard and Laird, three sisters Shirley, Clara and Linda, six
daughters Lisa, Marla, Sheila, Cathy, Michelle and Tina, twelve
grandchildren - Chris, Dan, Tyler, Taryn, Taurie, Casey, Samantha,
Alyssa, Brett, Mackenzie, Cassie and Tyler, seven great-grandchildren, and
many other cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
parents, wife Viva, sister Viola and daughter Theresa. The family wishes to thank the Dallas Retirement Village, Willamette Valley Hospice, and all his many friends and family that helped during his time with us. Donations can be made to Meals on Wheels for their
gracious efforts. "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one
can steal." Services will be held at Farnstrom Mortuary in Independence, Oregon on Monday, April 26,2010 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 22nd and Friday, April 23rd.
