Henry (Hank) Quiring
May 21, 1929 - May 30, 2013
On May 30th, 2013, Henry (Hank) Quiring passed away at the age of 84 surrounded by family and loved ones. Hank was born on May 21st, 1929 in Dalhart, Texas where he spent the first eight years before moving to California and then onto Oregon at the age of sixteen. He attended Dallas High School before he entered the United States Navy where he was stationed in Guam from 1946-1947 and was in the Naval Reserve until 1953. After leaving the service, he set up a TV repair shop in Falls City, Oregon where he fixed televisions and installed TV cable to Valsetz customers.
Hank married his wife Lola Drew on September 11th, 1949 in Gates, Oregon. They had four children together, Gary, Cathy, Tracy and Denise, along with eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Hank and Lola spent many years in Falls City before moving to Redmond, Oregon where they retired in 1994.
After Lola passed away seven years ago, Hank found love again with Ruth Quiring and they spent several happy years together in Dallas. After Ruth's death, he stayed in Dallas where he was surrounded by family and an amazing group of friends, caregivers and neighbors who all positively impacted his life and made his last few years as joyful as possible.
Hank was a charismatic jokester who had many passions in life. He loved to watch old western movies and television shows, complete crosswords and puzzles, and spend time with his family. Hank's sense of humor was as unique as he was. He could always be counted on to tell jokes that either made you laugh or roll your eyes and smile. He was the kind of person that cared deeply about the people in his life and went out of his way to try to lighten any situation.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday June 5th, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Hilltop Cemetery with reception following at Helmick State Park just south of Independence, Oregon. Hank will be laid to rest with his wife Lola at the Drew family plot.
