BUENA VISTA - Geraldine "Geri" Katherine Lundberg Niccoli passed away September 19, 2011 at the age of 87. Born on June 9, 1924 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Ralph & Helen Lundberg. Graduating from Independence High School (Henry Hill) in 1942. She met and married John William Niccoli on May 21, 1943 while he was stationed at Camp Adair. Geri spent many summers working in the hop fields and picking cherries for neighbors in Buena Vista and surrounding area. She worked for a number of years for Blue Lake Cannery in West Salem and later transferred to the Corvallis plant working in their quality control lab. After her retirement she volunteered at Henry Hill and Independence Elementary Schools in their reading and math programs. She also delivered meals on wheels and was awarded volunteer of the year in 1989-90. She loved reading, crosswords and her constant companion Max, her little dog. She is survived by her children Mary (Larry) Shellenbarger of Buena Vista and Danita (Dennis) Wolfe of Salem. Sister Judith Wilson of Albany and 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren which brought her great joy. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Donald.
Visitation will be 1-5pm Thursday at Farnstrom Mortuary. Graveside service will be 11am Friday at Buena Vista Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Ella Curran Food Bank or Willamette Valley Humane Society in care of Farnstrom Mortuary 410 Monmouth St. Independence, Oregon 97351 who is entrusted with arrangements.
