George Kozisek, 84, of Independence died March 29th following a courageous battle with emphysema.
George was born in Pine City, Minnesota to James and Mary Kozisek.
George served in the Army during WWII from 1945-1947 in the infantry's Rainbow Division. After leaving the Army with an honorable discharge he moved to Oregon where he resided until his death.
George married his beloved wife Verna on July 5,1951 and were married for 56 years until her death in 2008.
George retired in 1984 from the State Highway Division as a heavy equipment mechanic after 31 years of service.
He is survived by his daughters Patti (Tom) Sample of Sheridan, OR; Penny (Jim) Marr of Monmouth, OR; and son, Rick (Becky) Independence, OR; seven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A public graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 5th, 11 a.m. at Restlawn Memory Gardens followed by a Celebration of George's life at Green Villa Barn, Independence from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
