Gary Walter Grabow
February 24, 1943 - October 26, 2011
Gary Grabow was born February 23, 1943 in Kenmare, North Dakota to Walt and Buhla Grabow. He moved with his family when he was 4 to Salem, Oregon, where he lived until he married in 1975.
He graduated from South Salem High School in 1961 and went to work for Western Electric. After a couple of months he joined the US Army, seeing Turkey, Germany and Vietnam. When his 4 years were up, he returned to Salem and Western Electric, which became AT&R and the Lucent before he retired.
Gary married Nancy Mintonye in 1975 and lived in his dream house with her until his death. He was a member of the Salem Masonic Lode, the ALKader Shrine and the Independence Elks Club. He committed himself to these organizations until his health prevented him from doing so.
He is survived by his wife Nancy of Independence; daughter Maureen March of Coquille; son Ross of Salem; son-in-law Shawn March & grandsons Chase & Hayden, all of Coquille; sister Jolae (Mrs. Russ Reed) of Salem; and several family members.
Services will be Thursday, November 10th, 6pm at the Calvary Baptist Church in Salem. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society in care of Farnstrom Mortuary 410 Monmouth St. Independence, OR. 97351
