Gabriel Morgan
November 2, 1976 - July 14, 2013
Gabriel was born in Salem, Oregon to Jeff and Patricia Morgan on November 2, 1976. He lived in the Monmouth/Independence, OR area all his life. He passed away in Portland, OR on July 14, 2013 at the age of 36.
For those who were blessed to know Gabriel, you knew of his amazing upper body strength. He really enjoyed competition weight lifting in the bench press. He held two world records, five American records and over 20 Oregon records in the bench press.
He graduated from Central High School in Monmouth, OR in 1994. He then did a year of college at OSU then worked at Tyco Electronics for 12 years. He went back to with a focus on business and finance. He was maintaining a 4.0 GPA and was really enjoying school. He was making plans to transfer to a 4 year college when his cancer treatments had become too difficult to manage the daily task of school. This was so unfortunate as he had such good grades he had been inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. This forced him into an early retirement and really enjoyed it. He spent his usual days taking care of his wife and children as they navigated their days making sure all were cared for and he never got bored with it.
His passion for music never ceased and he was lucky enough to have most of his band mates be family members - he played with his dad, Jeff Morgan, his brother, Adam Morgan and his uncle, Dale Morgan and if you weren't a Morgan you were quickly adopted by Gabe. One of his greatest moments was getting to share the stage with his son, Brandon Morgan.
He loved being out in nature with his family - especially his Grandpa Ed's cabin in Condon, Oregon where he had many wonderful friends. He also loved to vacation in Mexico with his wife, Kamala. They loved travel and discover new experiences.
He really showed everyone how to live a life full of love and happiness while facing an incurable disease. He never complained and was strong and faithful to the end. His strong Christian faith has carried him through the years without fail.
He is survived by his parents, Jeff and Patricia Morgan as well as brother Adam Morgan and sister Kacie Yarnell and her husband Matthew Yarnell. He was married to Kamala Morgan (Priest) in Independence, Oregon. Their blended family is made up of three adored children, Brandon, Kalen and River.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 19 at 6 pm at Rogue Farms in Independence, Oregon. Final arrangements are in the care of Farnstrom Mortuary. Please share your memories and condolences at FarnstromMortuary.com.
