Frank Leroy Marshall

Frank L. Marshall May 24, 1929 ~ January 24, 2009 Frank L. Marshall of Independence, Oregon died Saturday, Jan. 24th at his home. He was the son of Alfred and Docia Marshall and was born in Los Angeles, CA. May 24, 1929. He lived in the L.A. area until age 16, attending Whittier H.S. The family moved to the Dallas, Oregon area where he graduated from Dallas High School in 1947. Frank joined the Army in 1951 spending two years overseas in the Korean War. On December 23, 1955 he married Joan Courter, of Dallas, and they moved to Compton, California for a time, returning to Oregon in time for the birth of their first child later that year. Frank attended dental school, completed engineering drafting at Chemeketa Community College, worked for Willamette Industries and Towmotor Caterpillar in Dallas; Microflect in Salem, Franklin Sweed in Independence and retired from Salem Equipment in 1991. He was the owner of Ash Creek Mobile Home Park in Independence. Frank was a member of the Independence Elks Lodge for 34 years, and among the first Polk CERT team member in Polk Co. He is survived by wife, Joan Marshall of Independence, Brother Albert Marshall of Albany, sons Douglas Marshall and his wife, Michelle of Independence, Bruce Marshall of Independence, Todd Marshall of Las Vegas, Nevada, daughter, Susan Fast of Independence. four grandsons, one granddaughter and one great grandson. Celebration of Life will be 10:30am Thursday January 29th at Cornerstone Christian Center 4395 Independence Hwy. Independence, OR. Private family inurnment will be at Dallas Cemetery at the Niche Wall in Dallas, OR.
