Frances "Fran" Pappin, 77, of Monmouth died as she lived, quietly, independently and on her own terms, February 16, 2014. Fran's family have a long history in the Monmouth/Independence area dating back to 1963. Fran has always called Oregon her home. She spent the bulk of her successful, professional career in the Portland area working in the banking industry as an EDP Auditor. She raised a wonderful son as a single parent with the support of her family.
Upon retirement, Fran returned to her family home in Monmouth and lived an active retirement as a volunteer for the Monmouth/Independence Chamber of Commerce, Monmouth Library, Garden Club and the Independence Women's Club and the many programs these organizations support.
Her passion was always books, she was a voracious reader, including cook books, and she lived her life surrounded by them. Her two favorite food groups were chocolate and peanut butter with ice cream and donuts on the side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Hazel Pappin. Fran's passing is mourned by her brother, David Pappin of OR/CA, sister, Patricia Mecalis of The Dalles, son Mike Pappin, his wife Liisa of Salem, Fran's niece Michelle Lauterbach, her husband Brian of The Dalles, and all their children, grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 23 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., at the Independence Women's Club, 340 S 3rd St, Independence.
Contributions are suggested to ones favorite worthy cause in her memory. Fran's favorites were the Monmouth Library, Independence Women's Club, and ASPCA.
