Erma Evelyn Bewley

Erma Bewley of Salem, Oregon died February 14, 2005 she was 103 years old. Erma was born in Jefferson, Oregon on August 17, 1901 to George and Susan Jane Reeves Lynes. She attended and graduated from High School in Independence, Oregon and worked as the first telephone operator at first telephone office in Independence, Oregon. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and enjoyed making a home a haven. She spent 30 years in Polk County, 20 years in Klamath, 10 years in Marion, 5 years in Ohio and 38 years in Jackson County. She married Maj. Virgil J. Bewley on November 6, 1920 in Vancouver, Washington. He passed away December of 1999. SURVIVORS: Frances Bewley Daughter Salem, Oregon 2 grandchildren 2 great grandchildren 2 cousins one of Jefferson and one of Salem. Preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and Kevin Copher a grandson. Private Family interment will be at Fir Crest Cemetery in Monmouth, Oregon
