Emery Jack Thompson

Emery J. Thompson, 86, a resident of Monmouth, passed away on May 28, 2010 at Salem Hospital.
He was born in Springfield, MO, to Emery Jackson and Bessie Alice (Odom) Thompson. He came to Albany when he was 3 years old, and graduated from Albany High in 1942. He married Joy Knofler in 1945.
A log scaler, he was a member of the Trails End Sams RV club, and loved to play golf. He watched all of the local football games.
Emery is survived by his wife of 64 ½ years, Joy Thompson of Monmouth; daughter Jackie Elliott of Independence, son Don Thompson of Dallas, Oregon, daughter Dianne Dobiash of Dallas, OR; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Willamette Memorial Cemetery in Albany, OR, Wednesday June 2nd at 2 p.m. A reception will be held after the service approximately 4 pm at First Baptist Church in Independence.
