Eddie Ainsworth

Monmouth - Eddie Ainsworth, a longtime resident of Monmouth passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013 at the age of 87. Eddie was born November 13, 1925 to Clarence and Deanie Ainsworth in Forest, Louisiana.
One daughter, his father, mother, three brothers, and one sister preceded him in death.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He married Vera Elaine Goddard on July 28, 1950 in Las Vegas, Nevada where he was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. They have 3 Children, 13 Grandchildren, and 19 Great-grandchildren who live in Dallas, Independence, Portland, and Salem.
After his discharge from the Air Force, he worked as a carpenter in Las Vegas until he moved his family to Montana where he worked as a Forest Ranger. Then, in 1963, he moved his family to Dallas, Oregon where they lived until they moved to a small farm just west of Monmouth in 1973.
Eddie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Monmouth 3rd Ward in Monmouth, Oregon, and the American Legion, Post 10, Albany, Oregon. He loved to help his family, friends, and others in need, and was always ready to be of service in any way he could.
He was employed in Dallas, Oregon by Gerlinger Carrier Co., which later merged with Towmotor and then Caterpillar Tractor where he worked on an assembly line building forklifts, from 1963 until his retirement in 1987. After he retired, he pursued his other occupation as a "Gentleman Farmer" until his death.
He is survived by his wife Elaine, and son Ronald of Monmouth, and daughter Yvonne of Independence, 2 brothers, 13 Grandchildren, and 19 Great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday, July 6, 1 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Monmouth 3rd Ward. Interment with military honors will be at Willamette National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monmouth LDS Missionary Fund or Doernbecher Children's Hospital. Arrangements by Farnstrom Mortuary.
