February 11, 1925 - November 22, 2013
Monmouth - Dorothy P. Marlow, 88, of Pendleton, Oregon and recently of Monmouth, Oregon, passed away November 22, 2013 at Salem Hospital. Mom said she had had a very full and adventurous life, and was now ready to go see her deceased family members.
She was born February 11, 1925 in Michigan City, IN, and spent her childhood growing up in Bloomfield, NE. Her parents were Ben and Ellen Pearce.
Mom's young adult years were spent attending the University of Oregon and the University of Washington. After moving back to Pendleton where her parents operated the Terminal Caf at the Pendleton Bus Station, she married Frank Marlow (3-year marriage) and had 2 daughters. Her 3 year marriage to Frank Marlow gave her 2 daughters. After her divorce, she went to work for the City of Pendleton as Administrative Assistant to the City Manager, of whom she worked for many. She retired after working for the City over 30 years, and was presented with a Key to the City by the Mayor.
As she approached retirement, she bought a motorhome (the first of many) and thoroughly became bitten by the camping/RV'ing lifestyle. She attended many campouts with family, RV'd throughout the USA, and enjoyed time with her friends in the Blue Mountain Good Sam's Club. She also was an active member of PEO, and attended the Methodist church in Pendleton. And she comprehensively documented the family history back to descendants from England and Germany.
Mom is survived by: her youngest daughter, Margie Paulson and her spouse Donna Kennedy of Monmouth, whom Mom completely considered her daughter-in-law; granddaughter Tricia Cochran and her husband John and 2 great granddaughters Anita and Rachel of Kennewick WA; granddaughter April Denby of Kuna, ID; she also is survived by her brother Bob Pearce and her niece and nephew Kathy Morgan and Ben Pearce.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents and her oldest daughter, Roberta Marlow.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Internment was at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton, Oregon.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for Mom's care at Independence Health and Rehabilitation Center, Gentiva Hospice, and the Salem Hospital Neuro-Trauma Care Unit.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Salem Hospital Foundation (698 12th St SE #130, Salem, OR 97301) or Shangri-La of Salem (4080 Reed Rd SE, Ste. 150, Salem, OR 97302).
