Dorothy lived an exciting and adventure-filled life. Her love of travel was a gift from her parents and heritage from Sweden. Throughout life, Dorothy was able to travel to dozens of countries all over the world. Words and language were a special gift and talent speaking Swedish, French and some Spanish. Through the years she took advantage of special occasions where her Swedish heritage was celebrated, which she fostered to keep up those traditions that were dear to her.
Music and especially playing the piano was a gift that never ended for Dorothy. Even late in life, she shared her piano by playing for the seniors at the retirement center. It was the joy of her life to sit down at the piano and just play.
As co-owner of The Market Place in Monmouth with her husband Brice, Dorothy enjoyed the interaction with the Monmouth/Independence community in many civic activities. The highlight each year was the Fine Arts Series which again were focused on music.
Dorothy’s faith was the center of her life from a youth to her last days. As a preacher’s kid, she shared the love of Jesus throughout her life. She is now blessed to be at rest and in His arms.
Farnstrom Mortuary will be handling the burial and Dorothy will be interred at Fir Crest Cemetery off Highway 99W in Monmouth. There will be a graveside service held at a date to be determined per Dorothy’s wishes.
