Donald Lenard Petty

Don Petty, 88, of Salem passed away the evening of May 29th. Born in Kewanee, Illinois in 1929, later moving to Arizona and then the St Johns area in Portland Oregon. Don later met and married Zella McGowan in 1950. They lived in Independence from 1950 to 1976 later moving to Dallas, Salem, Marion and finally settling in Sweet Home. Don worked many years in the farming and hazelnut industry. He also spent a number of years as a security officer for the Salem Hospital and then starting a janitorial business with Zella. They would later retire. After the death of his wife Don lived with his Daughter. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Lee Petty, on December 14th 1955 and his wife, Zella Petty, on May 15th 2008. Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Petty, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. No services are planned at this time.
